GMO / Genetically Modified Foods

Genetically Modified Foods, Plants, Animals, Additives, Body Products, Fish, Crops and Trees have had their genes manipulated, changed, and put into other species that normally they would not mate with, blend with, consume, or grow in. Incredible combinations have been produced, and have been found to have mutations, diseases, abnormalities and trigger other diseases that otherwise may have remained dormant.

Very little testing has been done on the health effects of humans ingesting and applying genetically modified products. Tests that have taken place show animals that refuse to eat Genetically Modified feed, who upon being force-fed the Genetically Modified feed develop lesions, abnormalities, disease…and some have died.

Dozens of countries have banned the import, sale, use and planting of Genetically Modified Organisms due to lack of testing and long term study of human health and environmental effects.

The U.S. does not only NOT ban GMO’s, manufacturers are not required to identify or label a GMO ingredient in their food or body products. A conservative estimate concludes that 75+ % of American foods and body products contain genetically modified organisms. Regardless of dozens of scientific warnings, the FDA has approved widespread use of GMO ingredients in America’s foods and body products.

The following countries have banned or restricted the import, distribution, sale, utilization, field trials and commercial planting of GMO’s:

*

Africa: Algeria, Egypt
*

Asia: Sri Lanka, Thailand, China, Japan, Phillipines
*

Europe: The European Union, Norway, Austria, Germany United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Greece, France, Luxembourg, Portugal
*

Latin America: Brazil, Paraguay , Venezuala
*

Middle East: Saudi Arabia
*

North America: Maryland has banned GE (genetically engineered) fish and North Dakota and Montana have filed bans on GE wheat. The Municipalities of Burlington, Vermont (declared a moratorium on GE food), Boulder, Colorado (bans on GE crops) and the City and County of San Francisco (urged the federal government to ban GE food) are the only towns or states to take some sort of stand against plants, animals, foods, crops and body products that are, or contain Genetically Modified Organisms.

NOTE: The U.S. government, and the FDA do not require anything Genetically Modified to be identified on ingredient lists. Genetically Modified foods and products are in widespread use and distribution throughout the U.S.
*

Pacific: American Samoa, Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Federated States of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Australia, New Zealand

Venezuala Bans Frankencrops
In a reversal of Monsanto's contracting to plant their genetically altered soybeans, Pres Chavez has moved to ban GMO's in Venezuela and start an indigenous seed bank. The importance of food sovereignty and security -- required by the Venezuelan Constitution -- was emphasized as a basis for this change.

Cultivation of genetically modified crops to be prohibited on Venezuelan soil
April 21, 2004 [Took a while to get this one out to the rest of the world]

President Hugo Chavez Frias has announced that the cultivation of genetically modified crops will be prohibited on Venezuelan soil, possibly establishing the most sweeping restrictions on transgenic crops in the Western Hemisphere. Though full details of the administration's policy on
genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are still forthcoming, the statement by President Chavez will lead most immediately to the cancellation of a contract that Venezuela had negotiated with the US-based Monsanto Corporation.

Before a recent international gathering of supporters in Caracas, President Chavez admonished genetically engineered crops as contrary to interests and
needs of the nation's farmers and farm workers. He then zeroed in on Monsanto's plans to plant up to 500,000 acres of transgenic soybeans in Venezuela. "I ordered an end to the project," said President Chavez, upon learning that transgenic crops were involved. "This project is terminated."

President Chavez emphasized the importance of food sovereignty and security -- required by the Venezuelan Constitution -- as the basis of his decision. Instead of allowing Monsanto to grow its transgenic crops, these
fields will be used to plant yuca (an indigenous crop), Chavez explained. He also announced the creation of a large seed bank facility to maintain indigenous seeds for peasants' movements around the world...

With a long history of social and environmental problems, Monsanto won early international fame with its production of the chemical Agent Orange - the Vietnam War defoliant linked to miscarriage, tremors, and memory loss, to which over a million people were exposed. More recently, the company has been criticized for side-effects that its transgenic crops and bovine growth hormone (rBGH) are believed to have on human health and the environment.

Closer to home in Venezuela, Monsanto manufactures the pesticide glyphosate, which is used by the neighboring Colombian government as part of its Plan Colombia offensive against coca production and rebel groups. The Colombian government aerially sprays hundreds of thousands of acres, destroying legitimate farms and natural areas like the Putomayo rainforest, and posing a direct threat to human health, including that of indigenous communities.

RE: Would an implanted chip help to keep my child safe?

----------------- Bulletin Message -----------------
From: Totalreality_2012

I saw this disgusting article and just wanted to comment on it

Microchipping is here, they've even begun to chip Alzheimer's and Diabetic patients, always for your safety, never for the cashless control system we're already in.

From

May 15, 2007

Would an implanted chip help to keep my child safe?

In the wake of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, every type of child monitoring device is in demand

If your child could wear an implant – a microchip that could tell a computer where he or she was at any time to within a few metres – would you buy it? After the horrific snatch of three-year-old Madeleine McCann from her bed in Portugal, the answer from many parents seems to be "yes".

Professor Kevin Warwick, who developed the technology that made it possible for the first child in Britain to volunteer to be "chipped" in 2002 – after the murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman – has been bombarded with e-mails over the past few days from parents desperate to keep tabs on their children. As we talk, another e-mail drops into his inbox from a mother of two young children who says that she is deeply anxious about Madeleine's disappearance and wants to know more about the chip technology.

It works, in theory, by sending a signal via a mobile-phone network to a computer that can identify the child's location on an electronic map.

But there was the concern at the time over the ethics of tagging our children's bodies – some groups, including Barnardo's and Kidscape as well as sections of the media, said that it was a neurotic overreaction that would not benefit children in the long run. So Warwick, Professor of Cybernetics at Reading University, did not continue to develop the project nationally. "It caused such a backlash that we had to step back," he says. "There were ethical concerns, and as a scientist you have to listen." But he adds that the point about chipping is not that you would use it to track your children 24 hours a day – only in a worst-case scenario. "You would hope that it never gets used," he says.

There are, however, many other child-tracking devices on the market that will almost certainly have a surge in sales over the next few weeks. They range from pay-as-you-go tracking services that follow the SIM card in your child's mobile phone to electronic wristbands and specially tagged pyjamas. Some companies have shied away from such gadgets, fearing legal actions from parents should they fail for any reason, but others believe that the gadgets are destined to become part of normal parenting.

A Lancashire company, Connect Software, recently launched Toddler Tag, a child-safety monitoring system in which a tag smaller than a domino, which can take the form of a badge or bracelet or may be sewn into clothing, is allocated to each child.

The active Radio Frequency Identification tags work in conjunction with a reader to monitor child movement, raising the alarm when the child moves beyond a certain range. A typical package costs between £500 and £1,000. Chris Reid, the company's commercial director, says that several readers could be used by a parent to create a "virtual ringfence" that triggers an alarm if the child goes beyond the boundary or towards potential hotspots, such as kitchens or stairways. The company has also designed toddler "Smartwear" – bibs, T-shirts, dungarees, hats and jackets – which comes ready-tagged and, says Reid, may be useful not only to nurseries but to give parents an "electronic pair of eyes" when taking children to theme parks or on holiday.

Globalpoint Technologies, based in Newcastle, offers a "personal companion" that uses a combination of mobile phone and GPS technology to enable you to track your child by computer to within a few metres (cost: £400-£500). It picks up locator signals from satellites and sends them as a text message or via the mobile-elephone network to a website, and is based on technology developed by the Ministry of Defence. It is currently used by companies such as the Royal Mail to track mailbags.

Ian Rycroft, a company spokesman, says that it is lightweight, about the size of a small Nokia phone and can be placed unobtrusively in a shirt pocket, jacket or satchel or worn as a necklace or on a wristband. He believes that the market for the devices will expand significantly.

For older children there are established products such as Kids OK mobile phone tracking, i-Kids and Teddy-fone – a phone with a parent-activated child-monitor option that enables parents to listen in to what is happening around their child, an SOS button and a child-tracking service.

The drawback with all these products, of course, is that an abductor could quickly dispose of mobile phones, satchels, clothing or wristbands. Wherify, an American company, offers a GPS locator watch that it claims is lockable and tamper-proof and may act as a visible deterrent (it works only in America). However, some parents may be uncomfortable about a highly visible device that an abductor would be desperate to remove.

The question that must also be asked is: should we be tagging and monitoring our children to such an extent? Is there a danger that we may lose perspective and fill our children with suspicion and fear? Indeed, could we become overreliant on technology and consequently more blas? about basic supervision? Michelle Elliot, director of the child protection charity Kidscape, says that she opposes the idea of micro-chipimplants but understands why many parents want to use phone-tracking devices or wristbands.

She worries, however, that such devices might hamper children's development of a sense of independence. "It doesn't teach them what to do in a problem situation – eg, if you are lost, go into a shop", she says. "Having children relying on a parent getting to them and finding them doesn't encourage independence." Of implants, she says: "We don't know what the physiological effects – and a child isn't giving informed consent to what is a minor operation on their body."

But when children are abducted from bed and even from the bathtub (as a girl in the North East was recently), a nonremovable permanent chip is something that some parents would welcome, regardless of the ethics.

"We have 11 million children in the UK," says Elliot. "For the past 25 years between five and seven children have been abducted and killed by a stranger each year, and that has not changed.

"Are we becoming paranoid to the point where we give children the message that life is so dangerous that they have to be tagged? There is no guarantee of your child's safety. But the chances [of something like this happening] are so remote that you have to think about the message you're giving them."

But Professor Warwick says that if there was sufficient demand from the public and the initiative was backed by child-safety groups, it would not be difficult to make chip implants – about an inch long – available nationally in a relatively short period of time.

He says that further work may be needed to determine how best to recharge the device but, because it would be in "sleep mode", it would need only very low power. "It might be that once a year the child has to hold his arm up to a charger," he says.

He can see no serious health implications: the chip would housed be in a silicone capsule and it would be little different from having a cochlear implant.

And what of Danielle Duval, who, five years ago, at the age of 11, volunteered – amid huge media coverage and with the consent of her parents – to become the first implant "guinea pig"?

At the family home in Reading, Danielle's mother Wendy said that she did not want to comment on the issue in relation to Madeleine McCann. Her daughter had eventually backed out of the scheme because of intense media interest and had never had the implant fitted.

This is how they're selling it, all in the name of safety and security, with a touch of of decadence thrown in to please the spineless yuppies who will bend over backwards to get themselves and their children the luxury of a chip.

SEE THINGS FOR WHAT THEY ARE, NOT FOR AS YOU WISH THEM TO BE

RE: I knew it was too good to be true

----------------- Bulletin Message -----------------
From: The Last Boy Scout
Date: May 18, 2007 7:14 PM

I just knew it was too good to be true that we could put a halt to the Trans-Texas Corridor, and it appears my fears have come true. First it was this bill, then that bill, then I was confused which bill to support, I'm e-mailing my rep to vote for this bill, kill that bill, etc. etc. and it ends up it didn't make a shit anyhow cause the powers that be were never going to allow the TTC to be stopped.

It feels like we have lost all ability to fight the TTC and the NAU, the people running the show are going to do whatever the fuck they want, no matter what the citizens say. It's a fucking sham to the tenth degree

Have We Been Sold Out?
Afraid So!

By the time you read this the Governor's office may have already out maneuvered us all by effectively removing the Trans Texas Corridor TTC-35 from any moratorium limitations in SB792.

The Governor's office has targeted seven House amendments for removal.

Things are moving so fast there may be no time for anyone outside a small circle of key legislators to impact the outcome. By the end of today it is likely that Governor Perry will have his way and the citizens of Texas will have been sold out at the highest levels of Government.

The Governor's representatives Kris Heckmann and Ken Armbrister arrived to visit senators shortly after 11:00am this morning. About that same time a three page analysis/summary of SB792 amendments reportedly prepared by TxDOT was circulating.

CorridorWatch has been told that seven amendments has been targeted for removal. Among those are one by Pickett (6) effecting the El Paso RMA; one by Callegari (12) they believe was misdrafted; three by Kolkhorst (13, 15, & 16) effecting TTC35, CDA penalty payment funds, and a prohibition of investment firms being on both sides of a CDA; one by Quintanilla (22) a county contract provision; and, one by Y. Davis (27) requiring land taken by condemnation be offered back to the owner is unused.

Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst met on the floor of the Senate this morning with Senators Williams, Carona, and Nichols in an apparent attempt to convince Nichols to sign off on the prearranged deal.

It was Dewhurst that forced SB792 in to play in the first place making his intent very clear. As expected the Senate members of the conference committee are stacked in favor of producing the Governor's outcome. With only three votes out of five required it is unlikely that Nichols will find enough support to preserve the moratorium.

You may recall Austin political insiders predicted that the legislature would fold under the Governors' pressure. We had given them more credit, but that may prove to be sorely undeserved.

Conference Committee Members.

* Senator Tommy Williams, Chair 512.463.
* Senator John Carona 512.463.0116
* Senator Eliot Shapleigh 512.463.0129
* Senator Kim Brimer 512.463.0110
* Senator Robert Nichols 512.463.0103
* Representative Wayne Smith 512.463.0733
* Representative (to be announced)
* Representative (to be announced)
* Representative (to be announced)
* Representative (to be announced)

House Conference Committee members will not be formally named until Monday. But that doesn't mean that Rep. Smith has got them picked and begun the process of looking at the bill language the Governor expects them to agree on.

Word has it that Senator Carona will start 'visiting with likely House conferees' this weekend.

Anything can happen in conference, but this time the sheet music has been supplied by the Lt. Governor and the Governor is calling the tune.

CorridorWatch was wrong!

Have you heard that HB1892 won't effect TTC-35? We had, and we thought that it was a load of baloney. Unfortunately, we were wrong. Now we know it and they know we know it.

There is no question that it was the clear legislative intent of HB1892 and SB792 to stop TxDOT from proceeding with any TTC facility construction during the two-year moratorium. Everyone knew that including the Governor and TxDOT and yet they let the legislature believe that these bills would do that. In fact the Governor went on record saying that he would sign the moratorium.

Amendment 13 to SB792 by Kolkhorst closes a moratorium loophole in HB1892 by including TTC-35 CDA facility agreements. The only exception would be Loop 9.

If only one amendment survives the Conference Committee it needs to be Amendment 13.

Amendment 13 is "Do or Die" for TTC-35.

It is no surprise that Kolkhorst amendment 13 is on the Governor's hit list. If we are to have an enforceable moratorium on the TTC, we must have amendment 13 remain on SB792.

Amendment 16 is just good business practice.

Rep. Kolkhorst doesn't think that the financial advisor who develops the market valuation for a project (for the toll authority or TxDOT) should also advise the company that will finance, build, develop or operated a TxDOT toll project. This is another amendment that is targeted for removal.

Other amendments also have merit, but we can't save the world, and were not too sure we can save ourselves from the Trans Texas Corridor.

Once again we ask, Will Our Senators and Representatives Continue Standing-Up For the People of Texas?

With your help we believe they can.

CorridorWatch will be watching and reporting.

Amnesty Opens Door For Foreign Occupation Of U.S.

The Senate is on the verge of passing a bill that has been written in secret and has not even be read which provides total amnesty for 12 million (if you are to believe official figures) illegal aliens already inside the US, allows them to bring in their entire families from outside and ultimately paves the way for foreign occupation of the United States.

New Net threat: Infectious Web pages

Posted: Friday, May 18 at 05:00 am CT by Bob Sullivan

VIDEO: Click here or on the image to watch Symantec researcher Eric Chien demonstrate how malware spreads on the Internet.

Don't click on attachments? Good. Always keep that firewall turned on? Even better. Stay away from the Internet's unsavory neighborhoods? Better still. Think you are protected?

Wrong.

Computer criminals are evolving their tactics to subdue your computer, experts say. Each time you invest more money and time in staying safe, the bad guys just find another way around your defenses. Their newest method may be the trickiest yet: Web pages booby-trapped with infectious computer code.

Such sites are popping up at an alarming rate, according to a new study issued by Google called “Ghost in the Browser.” (Adobe Acrobat required).

Unsuspecting Net users are victimized by simply doing what they do hundreds of times each day – visiting a Web page. Then, while the consumer browses content normally, a computer virus or Trojan horse program is silently installed.

In the study, Google found 300,000 Web sites laced with such malicious code, and another 700,000 suspicious sites. For perspective, the study found only 18,000 Web sites laced with adware.

So called drive-by downloads are not new, but criminals have seized on the tactic lately because their success rate with traditional e-mail viruses has tapered off thanks to improved software and consumer education. Avoiding e-mail viruses is fairly easy, as long as consumers following clear rules like "don't click on any attachments." But drive-by downloads are much more sinister, as no user interaction is required beyond opening an infected site in a Web browser.

Web 2.0 -- more risks

Dave Cole, a Symantec researcher, said even the tried-and-true advice to “stay out of the bad Web neighborhoods” doesn't work anymore. That’s largely because of the rapid increase in user-contribution Web 2.0-style sites -- sites like this blog that allow comments and other content to be uploaded. Hackers can often trick such Web sites into hosting their virulent computer code by using these tools to upload viruses. That means it's possible for consumers to visit what was once a harmless site -- say a blog they've looked at every day for a year without any problems -- and still become infected.

"Today it is not unlikely that you'll end up on a dangerous Web page even if you stick to good areas of ‘neighborhood,’” Cole said.

Once a consumer’s computer is infected by a drive-by download, it’s likely to become a zombie in an army of computers used by spammers to send out millions of unsolicited e-mails.

To see a demonstration of how spammers used hijacked computers to make money click on the video attached to this story.

The problem of hijacked computers – some believe as many as 100 million computers on the Net have been hijacked by hackers – is the subject of our recent three-part series, "Is Your Computer a Criminal."

The advent of drive-by downloads as the next important hacker tool puts search engines in the uncomfortable position of acting as a conduit between consumers and criminals. To counteract this threat, Google has quietly begun warning users whose searches turn up potentially malicious Web pages that "this site may harm your computer." The labeling began close to a year ago, said Google's Niels Provos, who co-authored the “Ghost in the Browser” report.

"The installation of software without user consent is something that can be detected easily," Provos said. The company ran billions of Web pages through a filter that looked for suspicious behavior. Of those, about 4.5 million pages tripped Google’s alarm, about 1 million contained some suspicious computer code and 450,000 were positively identified as dangerous. These sites now come with Google warning labels, and users must go to some trouble to actually visit the sites.

070517_redtape_hmed_5pstandard

The practice has generated some controversy online, with a few writers criticizing Google for "policing" the Net and potentially censoring content. But Provos said the company has an appeals process for site owners who feel they have been improperly labeled as malicious, and that the firm is doing the right thing to keep users safe.

"We are taking the security of our users very seriously," Provos said. "No matter where the content comes from.”

RED TAPE WRESTLING TIPS Drive-by downloads are treacherous, but there are ways to minimize the likelihood that your computer will get hit. Provos suggests that computer users should:

• Use antivirus software and firewalls, along with services that automatically patch software like Windows. They won't keep you from visiting infectious Web sites, but they can stop the virus or Trojan horse from wreaking havoc on your computer.

• Visit only Web sites you trust. You can still become infected, but your odds of staying safe are better.

• Take the added precaution of running the Web browser in a "virtual machine," which isolates the browser software from the rest of the computer. Even if consumers visit a malicious site with a browser running in a virtual machine, the infection will not spread to the rest of the PC. Microsoft offers virtual PC software for both Macintosh and Windows, but only the Windows version is free. (An earlier version of this entry wrongly indicated that the Mac version was also free)

I can't understand why someone [Ma] has had to spell this out. Thanks for spelling it out, though ;)

Thanks Ma Justice

Ok, I don't know how to make this more clear.

1. We are not "stupid" for understanding politics, nor is anyone "stupid" for not understanding. Ignorance is perfectly curable;
2. People who believe in Truth, a real investingation into 9/11 and/or believe in other larger conspiracies such as the NWO are not in any way being asked to (a) not believe in what they do, or (b) not to support Dr. Paul;
3. NO ONE is suggesting that Truthers stop what they are doing as researchers or activists in any particular area; and
4. No one is being told to "shut up"

The responses below demonstrate a lack of understanding of how the political process works, as well as gross misinterpretations and misrepresentations of what was posted.

Dr. Paul voluntarily agreed to be on the Alex Jones show numerous times. This was a calculated decision on his part, no doubt. It serves two purposes - 1. To speak to those who have already taken the red pill and "woken up" to inform us of his position on issues, and 2. to let us know he exists, as he is not that high profile and many of us would never have heard of him otherwise.

Dr. Paul is a man of honor and integrity, and he values the Truth wherever it may lie. I cannot imagine he is not aware of the the ridiculousness of the government's assertion about 9/11.

In the real world of politics, while he can state the "taboo" truth about blowback of our foreign policy, he cannot (in the real world) state on a debate stage that 9/11 was an inside job. Does that make him a hypocrite or unfaithful to the Truth? No, of course not!

Why not? Because introducing the subject via previously publicized statements of intelligence analysts and the 9/11 Commission report has already (hopefully) caused many people to look into it. Think of it as an introduction to the Truth, using previously published government sources.

The reality is that most people cannot handle the all of the Truth in one dose; it is simply too large and too scary to process all at once, especially for brainwashed, fluoridated and bamboozled Americans. They automatically recoil in denial and outrage; he (or anyone) is immediately branded as a "kook" because it is easier than facing the Truth. Many will do this because they cannot bear to do otherwise. They would then vote against him no matter how good for the country he may be; they would hand the country over to anyone but him because of their misinformed preconceived notions they got from all the spin.

His simple truthful statement is already being furiously spun, although it is backfiring and can be used to his advantage for the moment but - if it continues and he is branded as the leader of 9/11 Truth or anti-NWO movements it will sink him.

Basically, he cannot go too far, too fast - that is the point we are making.

So, the real question is this:

Would you rather Dr Paul completely blow it by stating on the debate stage that 9/11 was an inside job and be ridiculed right out of the race? Or would you rather he goes as far as he can in the race, waking people up along the way?

The former is political suicide. The latter is the most logical and effective choice.

Politics is really, really ugly and dirty. Dr. Paul is obviously gaining support at a staggering rate because of his truthfulness and his Constitutional stance on issues. It is his Constitutional message that appeals to people across all artificial political boundaries; this is his greatest strength!! His opposition will use anything and everything against him, true or not. Since he is not bought and owned, they will redouble their efforts, whether what they say is true or not. Since so many people haven't yet taken the red pill and are still brainwashed and drinking fluoridated water, many won't bother to look into it once Dr. Paul is associated with conspiracy theories/theorists. That is the danger that was being stated below.

Again, no one is suggesting that any of you stop seeking the Truth, being active, or stop supporting Dr. Paul; no one is suggesting that anyone should apologize for being a Truther! Read it again.

What is being said, plainly and clearly is that Dr. Paul cannot be associated as the leader of the 9/11 Truth movement. It would be about as bad as a bunch of folks showing up at a Paul campaign rally wearing ET outfits. Voila! Instant marginalization - whether he was a member of the UFOlogy community or hates their guts, it wouldn't matter!

THIS IS POLITICS - this IS unfortunately how it works. We don't have to like it, admire it or anything of the sort, but we DO have to accept it. The system sucks, & a great many of the People are brainwashed -this is Reality and we have to work within Reality right now, even if we don't like it.

I know how desperate the situation is. I know and understand how much each of us wants others to wake up, how we want the administration and traitors to be held accountable, but such interpretations from our common sense statements is much like what Rudy did to Ron! Think about that for a minute.

Dr. Paul told the truth and he was attacked for it. His words were clear and plain and true, yet they were twisted around and misinterpreted and misrepresented.

That is exactly what some here are doing. It wasn't fair to Dr. Paul and it is not fair to Mr. Pepin or myself. Both of us have some experience in politics. Both of us are passing along truthful, common sense information and are being attacked, misinterpreted and misrepresented.

The truth is brutal sometimes, it is sometimes hard to face. But each of us here have done that already with much larger, uglier truths than this. C'mon, people.... we're all grown ups - and you CAN handle the truth.

I stand by my statements, those of Mr. Pepin, and the logic thereof.

Thanks to: melanie

But, I see this in a positive way. Ron Paul had been almost completely ignored by the media until this association with the Truth Movement. Now Ron Paul is getting the attention he needs and instead of dwelling on the Truth Movement he is also getting his campaign message across. At the same time the Truth Movement is getting attention in the mainstream media, and we know how curiosity killed the cat?!? (Satisfaction brought him back!) Think of how many people are now aware that there is actually a 9-11 Truth Movement and that it isn't regulated to the realm of 'Urban Legend' type of thing.

Will guilt by association hurt Ron Paul? If people are stupid enough to judge a person by one thing, then yes. If people are wise enough to view the whole, then no. I think people are more willing to listen to his message because he is against the war, he is for abolishing the income tax, and for actually doing something positive for this country. I'd be more worried about 'guilt by association' if I were Hillary 'You Know Me By My Husbands Blow-Job Fiasco' Clinton, or Mr. Rudy 'Look At The Blood On My Hands' Guliani.

I will not apologize for my involvement in the Truth Movement as a Ron Paul supporter, just as I will not apologize for my involvement in social justice issues, N.A.R.F. , my support of the Humane Society or my activities in the world of art.

Telling Truthers to not associate with Ron Paul is like telling us we are not allowed to vote.
Whats more un-American than that?

Agreed. For the time being, Ron Paul needs to run as himself and his Constitutional stance as a Republican candidate - nothing more, nothing less.

Nothing will play into the hands of the NWO better than associating Ron Paul with 911 Truth or any conspiracy theories - it will only give them the fodder they desire and serve to discredit his wonderful voting record and stance on other issues.

Let's help him, not help them.

Words of wisdom from: Republican Liberty Caucus Of Texas

I have feared the day this would come. If you really care about Ron Paul's message of freedom and you want Ron Paul to be our next President you need to be an adult and listen to what I'm about to say, I warn you it’s going to make a lot of people mad.

I have personally been involved in underdog campaigns before. I know very well what tactics are used to destroy an opposing campaign. As we know now the exchange with Giuliani didn't hurt Ron Paul it backfired on Fox and Rudy. Dr.Paul is getting mainstream press. They are starting to let him speak. But that will come to a grinding halt, if the 9/11 Truth movement is successfully associated with Ron Paul and he's considered the leader of it. The ploy is called "Marginalization". Brand a candidate a crazy loon and the mainstream of America will refuse to listen to a word he says. It’s the ultimate political poison pill. The Political cold hard reality is that Ron Paul has to win the Republican Primary or he will not be President. And if that is not possible, he can still spread his message of freedom for a long time, but only if people perceive him to be sane and credible.

Fact : Ron Paul was elected as a Republican and in his heart he is a Republican that loves the constitution. Had he run as any other third party candidate, we would not be talking about him and no national press for a pro-liberty candidate. Ron Paul made it very clear, he’s not going run as a third party candidate or an independent. This is our one and only shot, period.

Fact: Ron Paul was asked directly by a close friend who is a member of the RLC, about the 9/11 Truth Movement while they were riding around in New Hampshire campaigning.
He said “ Drones hitting the Pentagon, and all that stuff is silly”
However, I don't accept the official report. There
were a lot of government people trying to cover up
their own mistakes and incompetence. There are a
lot of questions remaining to be answered and they
should be answered, not ignored."

Mistakes and incompetence are worlds apart form George Bush planned 9/11

Here’s how you will become Ron Paul’s worst enemy and a tool for the Corp Media. to “Marginalize” him:

If you show up at any Ron Paul rallies with your 9/11 was an inside job signs you will become the focus of the media not Ron Paul. And they will attempt “guilt by association” just like the woman in the video did. It’s wrong and unfair but we know that people are willing to lie to stop Ron Paul.

If you call mainstream talk shows and you are talking about 9/11 was an inside job, please do not mention Ron Paul, again guilt by association.

The best hope for any hidden truths to be found is Ron Paul, and if he gets elected and the investigation finds that you were proven right, I will apologize and I will paint a 9/11 was an inside job sign and join you.

Until then we have a primary to win please be mature about this and accept political reality.

RE: Petition to Ban Ron Paul Withdrawn ???

----------------- Bulletin Message -----------------
From: Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX)
Date: May 18, 2007 5:07 PM

The Chairman of the MI GOP has given up on trying to censor Ron Paul.

With only 14 signatories, his petition did not get very far...

Has Saul Anuzis had enough? The Michigan GOP big had wanted to ban presidential candidate Ron Paul from further debates. But an Internet wildfire may have derailed his efforts.

Tim writes: "I contacted the Michigan GOP early this morning & was told Saul Anuzis was backing down & would be officially withdrawing his petition. Can anyone confirm this? Grassroots apparently turned into a grassfire on the neocons & instead of protecting their home they ran to hide. If they keep losing battles in their War Against Ron Paul, we might gain the White House for him yet!"

A petition objecting to a debate ban of Republican Party presidential candidate Ron Paul has reached almost 11,500 as of now, May 18.

The petition may be seen here:

The level of state-led censorship of the net is growing around the world, a study of so-called internet filtering by the Open Net Initiative suggests.

The study of thousands of websites across 120 Internet Service Providers found 25 of 41 countries surveyed showed evidence of content filtering.

Websites and services such as Skype and Google Maps were blocked, it said.

Such "state-mandated net filtering" was only being carried out in "a couple" of states in 2002, one researcher said.
"In five years we have gone from a couple of states doing state-mandated net filtering to 25," said John Palfrey, at Harvard Law School.

Mr Palfrey, executive director of the Berkman Center for Internet and Society, added: "There has also been an increase in the scale, scope and sophistication of internet filtering."

ONI is made up of research groups at the universities of Toronto, Harvard Law School, Oxford and Cambridge.

It chose 41 countries for the survey in which testing could be done safely and where there was "the most to learn about government online surveillance".

A number of states in Europe and the US were not tested because the private sector rather than the government tends to carry out filtering, it said.

Countries which carry out the broadest range of filtering included Burma, Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen, the study said.

Full list of countries from the survey that filter content
The filtering had three primary rationales, according to the report: politics and power, security concerns and social norms.

The report said: "In a growing number of states around the world, internet filtering has huge implications for how connected citizens will be to the events unfolding around them, to their own cultures, and to other cultures and shared knowledge around the world."

Jonathan Zittrain, Professor of Internet Governance and Regulation at Oxford University, said the organisation was also looking at the tools people used to circumvent filtering.

"It's hard to quantify how many people are doing this. As we go forward each year we want to see if some of these circumvention technologies become more like appliances and you just plug them in and they work," he added.

"Few states restrict their activities to one type of content," said Rafal Rohozinski, Research Fellow of the Cambridge Security Programme.

He added: "Once filtering is begun, it is applied to a broad range of content and can be used for expanding government control of cyberspace. "Cyberspace has become a strategic forum of competition between states, as well as between citizens and states."

Mr Palfrey said the report was an attempt to shine a spotlight on filtering to make it more transparent.

"What's regrettable about net filtering is that almost always this is happening in the shadows. There's no place you can get an answer as a citizen from your state about how they are filtering and what is being filtered."

Making Sense of What Doesn’t Make The News

by Antonia Zerbisias
The Toronto Star

WINDSOR, Ontario – Lucky the Ambassador Bridge is jammed with trucks.

Otherwise, would-be media revolutionaries might storm it armed with digicams and laptops, ready to take on the corporate gatekeepers of news and information.

Here at the University of Windsor, where some 300 scholars, students and media guerrillas are revisiting Edward S. Herman and Noam Chomsky’s groundbreaking “propaganda model” on the eve of its 20th anniversary, the talk is of how to take back the public agenda and make it serve the public interest instead of the corporate bottom line.

As Sut Jhally of the University of Massachusetts put it in his galvanizing keynote speech, the “absences” are what hurt.

“What doesn’t make it in (the news) is more important than what makes it in,” said the executive director of the Media Education Foundation.

In Herman and Chomsky’s Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media, the authors proposed their propaganda model as a way of understanding how the mass media “filter” the news through five sieves.

Stripped down for purposes of, as Chomsky would say, typical media “concision,” they are: ownership interests, advertiser concerns, the nature of journalists’ sources, flak (or negative feedback) and ideology.

No recent failure of the media has been more spectacular than that during the run-up to the U.S. invasion of Iraq, when they marched in lockstep to promote the weapons of mass destruction lie.

Few journalists ventured outside the Pentagon for their information. Those that did and dug up contrary evidence, or lack of it, were confined to back pages, marginalized or scorned.

The facts underreported because of media filters “are the inconvenient and larger truths that the Herman-Chomsky model forces us to confront and challenge,” said Valerie Scatamburlo-D’Annibale, an associate professor here.

(For the record: The Star was the only major metro daily in Canada not to back the war on Iraq. It has however endorsed the Canadian “mission” in Afghanistan.)

Noting that both the New York Times and Washington Post eventually apologized for their shoddy reportage, Herman said, “The ink had hardly dried when they were doing the exact same thing with Iran.”

This is why New York-based Danny Schechter of MediaChannel.org talked of media “war crimes.” He cited historical examples of indictments of media – from Tokyo Rose after World War II to radio stations in Rwanda.

Reminding his audience that the Nuremberg trials were really about “crimes against peace,” he said, “We have the right to demand accountability.

“This is a story about crime, collusion and complicity between media and government.”

Hyperbolic, perhaps. But a case could be made.

Here’s the thing: Unlike, say, during the U.S. invasion of Vietnam, this time the media are entwined with the government as ground zero for protest.

Activists are working to change how the media cover stories. Among them, Toronto’s Isabel Macdonald, who in Haiti opened some journalists’ eyes to the 2004 overthrow of the democratically elected Aristide government – a coup the Paul Martin government backed.

Manufacturing Consent changed how (younger) generations saw media as a target for dissent,” observed Judy Rebick, a lifelong Canadian activist and founder of Rabble.ca.

In fact, said Colin Sparks of the University of Westminster in London, England, “The mass media are not only the enemy, but also the battleground.”

Perhaps.

But so far, there are only rumors of war. That’s because there are no corporate media here but me.

Until yesterday, even the Windsor Star had not showed up and had only given the conference a scant paragraph or so notice.

But hey, I read this morning that Law & Order star Chris Noth is coming to town for tea.

Israeli army kills a Palestinian child near Bethlehem
by Ghassan Bannoura - IMEMC& Agencies

Palestinian sources reported on Friday that a Palestinian child died in Beit Jala public hospital, located in the southern West Bank city of Bethlehem, after being shot by Israeli soldiers late on Thursday night.

A group of Israeli soldiers attacked homes in the village of Beit Fajar, located to the south of Bethlehem city. During the attack, soldiers randomly opened fire on a group of children playing in front of their homes, critically injuring Ziad Takatka, 16. The boy was moved to Bethlehem public hospital, but later died from his wounds.

Also early on Friday, an Israeli force invaded the village of Obadiyah, east of Bethlehem city. Soldiers searched a number of homes and kidnapped two Palestinian civilians in the incursion.

Three Palestinian children injured as army invades Tulkarem city
by Ghassan Bannoura - IMEMC& Agencies

Palestinian sources reported that three Palestinian children were injured by Israeli army fire as the latter invaded the northern West Bank city of Tulkarem on Thursday night and Friday morning.

Eyewitnesses reported that after storming the eastern side of Tulkarem late on Thursday late night, soldiers attacked and searched scores of homes, forced families to leave, firing sound bombs and damaging houses.

In the early hours of Friday morning, clashes erupted between stone-throwing children and the invading troops. Medical sources stated that the soldiers fired live rounds and rubber bullets at the boys, injuring three.

The Israeli army stated that the operation aimed to apprehend so-called “Wanted Palestinians”. Local sources in the city reported that the army left after capturing no one.

But Who Was Right – Rudy or Ron?

by Patrick J. Buchanan

It was the decisive moment of the South Carolina debate.

Hearing Rep. Ron Paul recite the reasons for Arab and Islamic resentment of the United States, including 10 years of bombing and sanctions that brought death to thousands of Iraqis after the Gulf War, Rudy Giuliani broke format and exploded:

"That's really an extraordinary statement, as someone who lived through the attack of 9/11, that we invited the attack because we were attacking Iraq. I don't think I have ever heard that before, and I have heard some pretty absurd explanations for Sept. 11.

"I would ask the congressman to withdraw that comment and tell us that he didn't really mean that."

The applause for Rudy's rebuke was thunderous – the soundbite of the night and best moment of Rudy's campaign.

Psychiatrists and Psychologists: Government's 9/11 Story is Crazy

Should people who question the government's version of the events of 9/11 have their heads examined?

Well, the following psychiatrists and psychologists have concluded that the official version of 9/11 is false. Moreover, many of these mental health experts have concluded that the government's account is so obviously false that people who believe the government's version are in psychological denial:

Psychiatrist E. Martin Schotz
